postdoc position in the intellectual history of corporate politics
at the Department of Business Humanities and Law in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The postdoc will join the project
Visions of corporate politics: Intellectual histories of the state-firm analogy
, funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark Sapere Aude Grant. The project team consists of the PI, one postdoc, and one PhD, and the work is framed around contemporary contestations over the boundary between state and firm and the use of state-firm analogies in political and economic thought.
The research focus is on one of two contemporary visions of corporate politics: attempts to democratize or politicize the firm, or attempts to build political communities on principles of corporate governance. Example themes include the democratization of the firm, democratic or economic planning, employee ownership, platform cooperativism or socialism, network states, gov-corps, start-up governments, and freedom cities.
The position is full-time and non-tenured for 2 years, with the possibility of 1 additional year of teaching obligations. The expected starting date is 1 May 2027, or as agreed. The role is mainly in-place, and the candidate should be regularly present in Copenhagen for meetings and team-based research.
Eligible applicants are expected to hold a PhD or equivalent in intellectual history, history, political sociology, political theory, political philosophy, economics, or political science. The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic track record, strong research experience in relevant fields of political, economic, or legal thought, solid communication and organizational skills, fluency in English, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment committed to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
