Professor Meng Chen at the University of California, Riverside is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a project on anterograde signaling and chloroplast biogenesis . The research will investigate how nuclear light signaling regulates plastid transcription and chloroplast development in Arabidopsis . The lab’s broader interests include environmental signaling , photobodies , thermomorphogenesis , and nucleus-to-plastid communication , with a focus on how phytochrome signaling controls assembly and activation of the plastid-encoded bacterial-type RNA polymerase. Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in plant biology , molecular biology , genetics , cell biology , biochemistry , or a related field. Strong publication record and experience in Arabidopsis genetics , chloroplast biology , plastid gene expression , protein biochemistry , microscopy , or genomics are highly desirable.
