Postdoctoral Fellowships in mHealth, Health Behavior Change, and Health Disparities at University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

The Health Promotion Research Center (HPRC) at the NCI Designated Stephenson Cancer Center, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), is seeking two Postdoctoral Fellows for a 2-3 year appointment. The positions are ideal for those aspiring to become independent academic researchers in mobile health (mHealth), health behavior change, cancer prevention, and health disparities. The starting salary is $70,000 per year, plus a $5,000 annual travel and training fund. Fellows will work with Professor Michael Businelle on multiple completed and ongoing NIH-funded research studies that use smartphones and sensors to collect data and deliver real-time interventions to reduce unhealthy behaviors such as smoking, at-risk drinking, and anxiety/depression. The research leverages the mHealth platform to develop and test automated Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAI), enabling rapid ecological momentary assessments and adaptive interventions. The mHealth resource has supported over 110 studies, including more than 60 NIH-funded projects. Responsibilities include manuscript preparation, data analysis, and participation in studies addressing smoking, alcohol use, cannabis use, case management, anxiety/depression, and best practices for conducting EMA studies. Fellows will receive training in advanced quantitative and statistical approaches, such as multi-level modeling and structural equation modeling, as well as grant writing and clinical trial methods. Access to research and training funds is provided. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in behavioral sciences, public health, psychology, clinical psychology, or a related field. Excellent writing skills are required, and experience with diverse populations, tobacco research, health disparities, and quantitative methods is preferred but not required. The position offers a competitive salary, benefits, and a supportive research environment in Oklahoma City, which boasts a low cost of living and vibrant cultural scene. To apply, send a curriculum vitae and cover letter outlining research interests and career goals to [email protected]. Applications are reviewed as received.
