This postdoctoral position is based at the Department of Anthropology, School of Culture and Society, Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University, and is tied to the research project “Stories from my new life: Mobile transitions and social becomings among resettled refugees in Denmark” (TRANSIT) . The project focuses on the lives of resettled refugees, with particular attention to the legal, social, and existential transitions that accompany resettlement. TRANSIT is built around the resettlement of approximately 600 Congolese women and children in Denmark under the UNHCR programme. The project examines three major life transitions: moving from youth to adulthood, from being single to being married, and into old age and death. It brings together Aarhus University, VIVE, FLUGT – Refugee Museum of Denmark, DFUNK, and resettled families to develop research, public engagement, and educational outputs. The successful candidate will contribute to an interdisciplinary and socially engaged research environment in anthropology. The role combines research and teaching, includes individual fieldwork, and places the postdoc as a key member of the project team. A major responsibility will be leading a work package focused on a storytelling training course with DFUNK – Danish Refugee Youth. The project also aims to produce a mobile pop-up exhibition for presentation across Denmark, develop teaching materials for pupils in later primary and secondary education, and publish research in leading peer-reviewed journals. The post is designed for an applicant with a strong research record in anthropology, migration and refugee studies, collaborative methods, and creative dissemination. The department and faculty emphasize international collaboration, experimental approaches to research and communication, and an inclusive academic workplace. The position offers the opportunity to work within a humanities and social science setting that is explicitly connected to partners beyond the university and to wider societal questions.
