PhD Student and Research Assistant Opportunities in Kinesiology, Health, and Multiple Sclerosis Neurophysiology

PhD Student and Research Assistant Opportunities at Rutgers University–New Brunswick Mélanie Henry, Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, is seeking motivated students to join her research group. The lab studies the neural mechanisms underlying mobility deficits and develops symptom-based interventions for people living with multiple sclerosis. The research program combines human neurophysiology , motor control , and translational approaches to understand how changes in the nervous system contribute to mobility impairments. Graduate students starting in Fall 2027 will develop and lead research projects in the lab, with opportunities to work with techniques such as EEG , EMG , TMS , and spinal reflex measures. There is also an opportunity to contribute to an NMSS-funded clinical trial focused on improving foot drop in people with multiple sclerosis. Applicants with a background in kinesiology or biomedical engineering are especially encouraged to apply. Prior experience with EEG, EMG, TMS, or spinal reflex measures is welcome but not required. The post also invites undergraduate students for Spring 2027 research assistant opportunities. Undergraduates will contribute to ongoing projects and gain hands-on experience with participant testing, data collection, processing, and analysis in people with multiple sclerosis.
