Malware has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, endangering people, businesses, and digital assets worldwide. Despite the numerous techniques and methodologies proposed for detecting and neutralizing malicious agents, modern automated malware creation methods continue to produce malware that can evade modern detection techniques. This has increased the need for advanced and accurate malware classification and detection techniques. This paper offers a unique method for classifying malware, using images that use dual attention and convolutional neural networks. Our proposed model has demonstrated exceptional performance in malware classification, achieving the remarkable accuracy of 98.14% on the Malimg benchmark dataset. To further validate its effectiveness, we also evaluated the model’s performance on the big 2015 dataset, where it achieved an even higher accuracy rate of 98.95%, surpassing previous state-of-the-art solutions. Several metrics, including the precision, recall, specificity, and F1 score were used to evaluate accuracy, showing how well our model performed. Additionally, we used class-balancing strategies to increase the accuracy of our model. The results obtained from our experiments indicate that our suggested model is of great interest, and can be applied as a trustworthy method for image-based malware detection, even when compared to more complex solutions. Overall, our research highlights the potential of deep learning frameworks to enhance cyber security measures, and mitigate the risks associated with malware attacks.

In fifth Generation (5G) networks, protection from internal attacks, external breaches, violation of confidentiality, and misuse of network vulnerabilities is a challenging task. Various approaches, especially deep-learning (DL) prototypes, have been adopted in order to counter such challenges. For 5G network defense, DL module are recommended here in order to symptomize suspicious NetFlow data. This module behaves as a virtual network function (VNF) and is placed along a 5G network. The DL module as a cyber threat-symptomizing (CTS) unit acts as a virtual security scanner along the 5G network data analytic function (NWDAF) to monitor the network data. When the data were found to be suspicious, causing network bottlenecks and let-downs of end-user services, they were labeled as “Anomalous”. For the best proactive and adaptive cyber defense system (PACDS), a logically organized modular approach has been followed to design the DL security module. In the application context, improvements have been made to input features dimension and computational complexity reduction with better response times and accuracy in outlier detection. Moreover, key performance indicators (KPIs) have been proposed for security module placement to secure interslice and intraslice communication channels from any internal or external attacks, also suggesting an adaptive defense mechanism and indicating its placement on a 5G network. Among the chosen DL models, the CNN model behaves as a stable model during behavior analysis in the results. The model classifies botnet-labeled data with 99.74% accuracy and higher precision.

In the world, brain tumor (BT) is considered the major cause of death related to cancer, which requires early and accurate detection for patient survival. In the early detection of BT, computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) plays a significant role, the medical experts receive a second opinion through CAD during image examination. Several researchers proposed different methods based on traditional machine learning (TML) and deep learning (DL). The TML requires hand-crafted features engineering, which is a time-consuming process to select an optimal features extractor and requires domain experts to have enough knowledge of optimal features selection. The DL methods outperform the TML due to the end-to-end automatic, high-level, and robust feature extraction mechanism. In BT classification, the deep learning methods have a great potential to capture local features by convolution operation, but the ability of global features extraction to keep Long-range dependencies is relatively weak. A self-attention mechanism in Vision Transformer (ViT) has the ability to model long-range dependencies which is very important for precise BT classification. Therefore, we employ a hybrid transformer-enhanced convolutional neural network (TECNN)-based model for BT classification, where the CNN is used for local feature extraction and the transformer employs an attention mechanism to extract global features. Experiments are performed on two public datasets that are BraTS 2018 and Figshare. The experimental results of our model using BraTS 2018 and Figshare datasets achieves an average accuracy of 96.75% and 99.10%, respectively. In the experiments, the proposed model outperforms several state-of-the-art methods using BraTS 2018 and Figshare datasets by achieving 3.06% and 1.06% accuracy, respectively.

Since the advent of visual sensors, smart cities have generated massive surveillance video data, which can be intelligently inspected to detect anomalies. Computer vision-based automated anomaly detection techniques replace human intervention to secure video surveillance applications in place from traditional video surveillance systems that rely on human involvement for anomaly detection, which is tedious and inaccurate. Due to the diverse nature of anomalous events and their complexity, it is however, very challenging to detect them automatically in a real-world scenario. By using Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), this research work presents an efficient and robust framework for detecting anomalies in surveillance large video data. A hybrid model integrating 2D-CNN and ESN are proposed in this research study for smart surveillance, which is an important application of AIoT. The CNN is used as feature extractor from input videos which are then inputted to autoencoder for feature refinement followed by ESN for sequence learning and anomalous events detection. The proposed model is lightweight and implemented over edge devices to ensure their capability and applicability over AIoT environments in a smart city. The proposed model significantly enhanced performance using challenging surveillance datasets compared to other methods.
