Faculty Development Program on Text Analytics Using Python for Behavioural and Qualitative Researchers

Rajagiri Business School, in collaboration with ServiceSetu, is organizing a 6-day online Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled Text Analytics Using Python for Behavioural & Qualitative Researchers from 8–13 December 2025, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM IST. This hands-on FDP is designed for faculty, PhD scholars, post-doctoral fellows, research analysts, and professionals working with text data, especially in the social sciences, behavioural research, management studies, and interdisciplinary research. The program will cover essential Python skills for researchers, including data cleaning, preprocessing, and organizing textual data. Participants will learn web scraping with BeautifulSoup and Requests, named entity recognition (NER) with spaCy, sentiment analysis using VADER, TextBlob, and BERT/FinBERT, and topic modelling with LDA and embeddings. The curriculum is structured to help transform raw narratives, interviews, and qualitative datasets into meaningful insights, with a focus on practical application and end-to-end text analytics workflows. Key topics include: Python basics for researchers (no coding background required) Data structures and working with data frames Text preprocessing and cleaning Web scraping for qualitative data Named entity recognition and event extraction Sentiment detection in text Topic modelling and embeddings The resource person for the FDP is Dr. Muhammed Niyas K P , Assistant Professor in Information Systems & Business Analytics at Rajagiri Business School.
