UNAM Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology

Postdoctoral Researcher Position in 2D-Material–Integrated Polymeric Nanocomposite Fiber-Based Piezoelectric Nanogenerators

Urgent postdoctoral researcher opening at the Contemporary Fibers Laboratory (CFL), UNAM – Bilkent University, Ankara, Türkiye, in the area of Materials Science , Electrical Engineering , Mechanical Engineering , and Physics . The project is titled 2D-Material–Integrated Polymeric Nanocomposite Fiber–Based Piezoelectric Nanogenerators . The researcher will design, fabricate, and characterize piezoelectric fiber-based nanogenerators; integrate 2D materials such as MXene and graphene; conduct electrical, mechanical, and environmental testing; build wearable-sensor prototypes; and contribute to related side projects including triboelectric and magnetoelastic nanogenerators. The role also includes publication writing, proposal writing, and mentoring. Eligibility is targeted to candidates with a PhD or near completion in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Physics. Strong hands-on experience in piezoelectric devices/materials or triboelectric systems is required, along with polymer-composite processing and characterization skills and a strong publication record. Experience with 2D materials and wearable sensors is considered an advantage. The appointment is for 18 months plus a 12-month renewal, with a possible third-year extension depending on performance. The post is described as urgent and candidates are expected to start as soon as possible. To apply, email a cover letter and CV including publications and 2–3 referees to ordu@unam.bilkent.edu.tr . The same email can be used for further information.

Postdoctoral Research Opportunity in Optical Fibers, Piezoelectric/Triboelectric Structures, Wearable Technologies, Energy Harvesting, and Sensors

UNAM Institute of Materials Science and Nanotechnology is advertising a postdoctoral research opportunity with Mustafa Ordu, Assistant Professor and head of the Contemporary Fibers Laboratory. The lab welcomes researchers with experience in optical fibers (visible to THz), piezoelectric/triboelectric structures , wearable technologies , energy harvesting , and sensor technologies . The broader research environment includes fiber-based devices, nanocomposites, nanogenerators, and THz communication-related optical components. This opportunity is connected to the TÜBİTAK 2218 Domestic Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program . The linked TÜBİTAK call states that applications for the 2026 round are open from 2026-07-01 to 2026-08-17 . The post itself asks interested researchers to apply by email with a motivation statement and CV. Ideal candidates are postdoctoral researchers with relevant experimental or device-oriented backgrounds in materials science, physics, electrical engineering, or related fields. The post does not mention a specific stipend amount, but it indicates a funded domestic fellowship framework through TÜBİTAK. To apply, contact Mustafa Ordu directly at ordu@unam.bilkent.edu.tr and include your motivation and CV. More information about the group is available through the laboratory and staff pages linked in the post.
