Due to the emergence of technology, electric motors (EMs), an essential part of electric vehicles (which basically act as engines), have become a pivotal component in modern industries. Monitoring the spare parts of EMs is critical for stabilizing and managing industrial parts. Generally, the engine or motor parts are delivered to factories using packing boxes (PBs). This is mainly achieved via a pooling center that manages the operation and transportation costs. Nevertheless, this process has some drawbacks, such as a high power train, bad press, and greater energy and time consumption, resulting in performance degradation. Suppliers generally take the parts from one place and deliver them to the other, which leads to more operation and transportation costs. Instead, it requires pooling centers to act as hubs, at which every supplier collects the material. This can mitigate the cost level. Moreover, choosing the placement of pooling centers is quite a challenging task. Different methods have been implemented; however, optimal results are still required to achieve better objectives. This paper introduces a novel concept for pooling management and transport optimization of engine parts to overcome the issues in traditional solution methodologies. The primary intention of this model is to deduce the total cost of the system operation and construction. Programming techniques for transporting the PBs, as well as for locating the pooling center, are determined with the aid of an objective function as a cost function. The location of the pooling center’s cost is optimized, and a Modified Gannet Optimization Algorithm (MGOA) is proposed. Using this method, the proposed model is validated over various matrices, and the results demonstrate its better efficiency rate.

This research aims to establish the ideal settings for Nylon-6 (PA6) three-dimensional printing utilizing the fused filament production process and examine the resultant surface roughness. ANOVA, S/N ratio, and modeling are explained, along with their application in identifying the ideal values for surface roughness, sustainability, and mechanical properties. Average-surface roughness (Ra), root-mean-squared surface roughness (Rq), print time (PT), print energy (PE), and tensile testing (T) were explored as response parameters to identify the impact of PA6 parameters (layer thickness, extrusion temperature, print speed, and infill density). Tests of validity demonstrated a significant decline in Ra, Rq, PE, PT, and T for the ideal values of the developed product of 10.58 µm and 13.3 µm, 23 min, 0.13 kWh, and 42.7 Mpa, respectively. Ra, Rq, PT, PE, and T have all been optimized using Taguchi techniques as a preliminary step towards application in future research and prototypes.

The growing demand for Magnesium in the automotive and aviation industries has enticed the need to improve its corrosive properties. In this study, the WE43 magnesium alloys were friction stir welded (FSW) by varying the traverse speed. FSW eliminates defects such as liquefication cracking, expulsion, and voids in joints encountered frequently in fusion welding of magnesium alloys. The microstructural properties were scrutinized using light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Additionally, the elemental makeup of precipitates was studied using electron dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The electrochemical behavior of specimens was evaluated by employing potentiodynamic polarization tests and was correlated with the microstructural properties. A defect-free weldment was obtained at a traverse and rotational speed of 100 mm/min and 710 rpm, respectively. All weldments significantly improved corrosion resistance compared to the base alloy. Moreover, a highly refined microstructure with redistribution/dissolution of precipitates was obtained. The grain size was reduced from 256 µm to around 13 µm. The corrosion resistance of the welded sample was enhanced by 22 times as compared to the base alloy. Hence, the reduction in grain size and the dissolution/distribution of secondary-phase particles within the Mg matrix are the primary factors for the enhancement of anti-corrosion properties.

The electrical power need in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has been escalating at a rapid rate of about 7.5% annually. It has the third highest usage rate in the world as stated by World Energy Council statistics. The rising energy demand has a significant impact on the country’s economy since oil is considered to be its mainstay. Additionally, conventional energy production using fossil fuels is a leading contributor to ecological degradation and adversely influences human health. As a result, Saudi Arabia has taken significant steps to shift from its current status of total reliance on oil to new frontiers of exploration of other kinds of renewable energies. Photovoltaic (PV) solar energy is the most preferred renewable energy to be harnessed in Saudi Arabia. In accordance with Vision 2030, the KSA intends to generate at least 9.5 GW of electricity from green sources, a significant portion of which will come from solar PV power. Since the site peculiarities have a huge influence on the project’s technical and economic dimensions, the scaled-up deployment of solar projects calls for a judicious selection of PV sites. Undoubtedly, performing a thorough solar site survey is the foremost step to establishing a financially viable and successful solar project. Multiple criterion decision-making (MCDM) strategies can be very helpful in making judgments, given that a number of criteria might influence PV site selection. The objective of this research is to provide valuable information on various MCDM approaches that can be utilized to select optimal locations for PV solar plants. A number of variables, including topography, air temperature, dust storms, solar radiation, etc., are considered in this analysis. This study has combined various MCDM techniques in order for the strengths of each method to outweigh the weaknesses of the others. It has been deduced from this analysis that the most crucial factors in choosing PV sites are solar radiation and sunshine hours. It has also been concluded that of the surveyed cities, Tabuk is the optimum location for the construction of a solar power plant due to its high GHI value of 5992 W/m2/day and abundant sunshine hours of 12.16 h/day. Additionally, the FAHP-VIKOR method is noted as being the most rigorous, whereas Entropy-GRA is the simplest method.
