The Lake Lab is recruiting a postdoc to lead innovative projects on
mitochondrial genome mutations
,
mtDNA variation
, cellular consequences of mtDNA dysfunction, and interactions between mitochondrial and nuclear genomes. The lab combines
experimental and computational methods
to study how mitochondrial genome changes shape cellular function, human health, and disease.
Research directions include identifying pathogenic variants, uncovering modifiers of mutation effects across individuals and cell types, developing and applying new technologies to measure mtDNA copy number, variation, and dynamics, performing high-throughput screens, and building novel cellular models. The role is well suited to candidates with interests in
genetics

Eligibility: applicants should have or be close to obtaining a PhD in genetics, mitochondrial biology, molecular and cellular biology, or a related field. Required experience includes cell culture and molecular biology techniques; preferred experience includes CRISPR/genome editing, mitochondrial assays, live-cell imaging, cellular model development, or functional variant characterization.
