PhD Scholarship in Enhanced Geothermal Systems and CO₂-Based Stimulation

PhD scholarship opportunity in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) with a focus on CO₂-based stimulation and sequestration . This ARC-funded interdisciplinary project is a collaboration between the University of Wollongong and Monash University , Australia. The research theme combines geothermal energy , subsurface technologies , fluid-induced fracturing modelling , advanced laboratory experiments , and sustainability/environmental impact analysis . The project aims to develop a novel CO₂ foam technology for subsurface applications, making it a strong fit for students interested in energy transition, carbon management, and geoscience/engineering research. Eligible applicants should be high-achieving students with First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Engineering and/or a Master’s degree (or equivalent) . Preferred backgrounds include engineering , geoscience , energy systems , or related disciplines. Applicants should also show strong interest in geothermal energy , CO₂ injection , sustainable subsurface technologies , and research innovation. Funding is described as a scholarship opportunity under an Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded project, but the post does not specify stipend amount, tuition coverage, or other financial terms. To apply, email your CV with academic achievements (overall grade, rank), research experience, list of publications, and relevant industry experience if any, together with academic transcripts and certificates , to [email protected] . Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews and then guided to submit the scholarship application.
