Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Neuroscience and Circuit Physiology at University of Cyprus
The Zanos Lab (Translational Neuropharmacology Lab) at the University of Cyprus is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Neuroscience and Circuit Physiology. This position offers the opportunity to lead innovative research at the intersection of neuroscience and circuit physiology, focusing on neural mechanisms underlying addiction, mood disorders, neurodegeneration, and environmental neurotoxicology using rodent models. The lab employs advanced techniques such as ex vivo slice electrophysiology, in vivo fiber photometry, optogenetics/chemogenetics, EEG/ECoG biomarker identification, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, and behavioral paradigms in rodents.
The successful candidate will design and execute experiments on synaptic plasticity, circuit dynamics, and behavioral outcomes, analyze multi-modal data, mentor junior lab members, contribute to grant reporting, and participate in scientific dissemination. The position is funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) and a Horizon Europe Hop-On Facility grant, with a competitive salary of €3,500–€4,500/month for a 1–2 year renewable contract.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field (awarded within the last 5 years), a strong publication record in systems neuroscience, proficiency in at least 3–4 relevant techniques, and excellent communication and data analysis skills. Experience with grant writing is a plus. Candidates must be willing to reside in Cyprus full-time during employment. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until March 15, 2026.
