A fully funded PhD studentship is available at the University of Exeter’s European Centre for Environment and Human Health, Penryn Campus, Cornwall, starting in the 2025/26 academic year. The project investigates the link between climate-induced heat and patterns of violence in the UK, focusing on health impacts and inequalities. Research will use quantitative methods to link weather data with violent crime and domestic abuse reports, quantify health impacts, and engage stakeholders from policy, healthcare, and law enforcement. Applicants from climate science, psychology, public health, environmental science, law, mathematics, or computer science are encouraged to apply, with essential skills in data analysis and programming. Home students receive full tuition and a stipend of at least £20,780 per year for four years; international students receive partial tuition coverage but must self-fund living costs. The project is supervised by Prof Gesche Huebner, Dr Frederike Garbe, Prof Peter Cox, and Dr Cornelia Guell. The studentship offers a unique opportunity to combine climate research with public health and social impact. Apply via the provided link before the deadline.
