Kansas State University is advertising an Assistant Professor / Extension Crop Production Specialist position in Agronomy and cropping systems in Manhattan, Kansas, with statewide responsibilities across Kansas and the Central Great Plains. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-eligible faculty role with a 70% Extension / 30% Research appointment. The successful candidate will lead interdisciplinary programs focused on row crop production , cropping systems , and applied research that supports Extension outreach for farmers, crop advisors, agribusinesses, agency personnel, and commodity groups. Research and outreach interests mentioned in the post include Great Plains agronomic production , soil and water management , enterprise profitability, grains, oilseeds, forages, and the development of Extension publications, workshops, field days, plot tours, newsletters, and digital communication materials. The role also involves mentoring graduate students and publishing research results. Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related discipline , have strong field-based crop production expertise, excellent English communication skills, evidence of peer-reviewed publication, and strong potential for extramural funding. Preferred experience includes Extension work, interdisciplinary teamwork, grant writing, and development of Extension materials.
