Jagiellonian University’s Nogly Lab in Kraków is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in time-resolved structural biology and XFEL serial crystallography . The project aims to capture the structural dynamics of a cyanobacterial halorhodopsin and make a molecular movie of chloride transport, using time-resolved serial femtosecond crystallography and synchrotron methods. The lab works at the frontier of structural biology , biochemistry , biophysics , and related areas, with experiments at European XFEL , SwissFEL , and MAX IV . The postdoctoral researcher will join a multidisciplinary environment covering protein expression, purification, crystallisation, data collection, processing, structure solution, and interpretation. The group also studies microbial rhodopsins, LOV-domain photoreceptors, and other receptor proteins involved in light sensing and signal transduction. This is a fully funded position with a contract of up to 4.5 years , 100% research , and no teaching obligations . The annual gross salary is 130,700 PLN (about €30,000). Additional benefits include private medical care at a reduced rate, MultiSport membership, and broad technical and administrative support. The lab emphasizes autonomy, scientific ownership, and strong mentoring, while also offering access to major international facilities and collaborations. Applicants should have a PhD in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a closely related field . Experience in protein biochemistry, crystallography, structural data processing and analysis is valued, especially serial crystallography. Candidates from chemistry or physics with relevant skills are also welcome. Prior XFEL experience is not required, and the working language is English; Polish is not required. The application is reviewed on a rolling basis, with 31 May 2026 as the deadline for full consideration. To apply, read the full position description and send a CV plus a short note about your background and interests to [email protected] .
