Fully funded PhD in Green and Sustainable Phosphorus Chemistry, Photochemistry, Catalysis and Mechanochemistry

Université Côte d’Azur is recruiting a fully funded PhD student at the Institut de Chimie de Nice (ICN, UMR CNRS 7272) for a 3-year project starting October 1, 2026 . The research focuses on green and sustainable phosphorus chemistry , including the development of new methods for synthesizing phosphorus compounds and forming P-C bonds . The project combines photochemistry , catalysis , mechanochemistry , atom-economical and multi-component strategies, and heterogeneous/homogeneous catalysis. A second part of the project applies these methods to medicinal chemistry , especially the design and synthesis of phosphorus-based bioactive molecules with relevance to oncology . The work is carried out in collaboration with MIT and UM6P (IRP CNRS), and also involves local biological and clinical partners. Eligible applicants should hold a Master’s degree or equivalent , ideally in organic, molecular, or medicinal chemistry . Prior experience in organic chemistry, phosphorus chemistry, photochemistry, or radical chemistry is especially valued. Professional proficiency in French and/or English is required. The application package should include a CV, cover letter, Master 1 and Master 2 transcripts, and contact details for at least one academic reference. Applications must be emailed before May 29, 2026 to the two listed contacts. This is a strong opportunity for students interested in sustainable synthesis, phosphorus compounds, catalysis, and medicinal applications at a leading French research institution.
