[Full-time PhD position funded at 2/3 of E13 TVöD Bund for three years.] The LMP department at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization is offering PhD positions in Statistical Physics and Active Matter . The research is led by Prof. Dr. Ramin Golestanian and is centered on theoretical work that seeks to understand the dynamics of living systems from a physical perspective. PhD researchers will carry out theoretical and/or computational research in nonequilibrium statistical physics and active matter . The position sits within a highly interdisciplinary environment that includes group leaders, postdoctoral researchers, students, and visitors, and is designed for applicants interested in the physics of living systems across scales. The role is based at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen, Germany. Funding is provided at 2/3 of E13 TVöD Bund , with full-time working hours and a contract limited to three years. The starting date is flexible. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or comparable qualification in theoretical physics, applied mathematics, or a related discipline from a recognized university. A strong interest in nonequilibrium statistical physics is required, along with the ability to work in an international, interdisciplinary team. Good English is essential; German is helpful but not mandatory.
