Cranfield University is offering a fully funded PhD opportunity focused on control systems and offshore wind energy. The project aims to develop state-of-the-art control tools to optimize turbine performance, build predictive maintenance systems, and design smart algorithms for changing wind conditions. The successful candidate will work with real wind farm data and collaborate with industry experts, including a 3-month placement with RES Group and training in Madrid, Spain. Applicants should have a background in Electrical Engineering, wind energy, Control Systems, or Energy Systems, and be proficient in Python coding with strong critical thinking skills. The position is open to both UK and international students; UK students receive full funding (£25,000/year stipend plus all fees), while international students must pay the tuition fee difference. The program lasts 3.5 years full-time, starting January 2026, with an application deadline of October 4, 2025.
