Sarah Allinson

A fully funded PhD studentship is available in Steven Hall's lab at Lancaster University, co-supervised by Prof Sarah Allinson (Lancaster) and Prof Andrew Jamieson (Glasgow). The project investigates the synergistic toxicity of snake venom toxins, focusing on the mechanisms by which major toxin families interact to induce cell death. The research aims to address the neglected tropical disease of snakebite envenoming, which impacts both humans and livestock, especially in rural tropical communities. The student will receive multidisciplinary training in pharmacology, chemical biology, data analysis, and scientific communication, including opportunities for presentations and publications. The studentship is funded by the BBSRC Northwest Biosciences DTP, covering tuition and stipend. The student will be primarily based at Lancaster University, with approximately one year spent at the University of Glasgow in Prof Jamieson's lab.
