Professor Sergio Carbajo at the University of California, Los Angeles is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join his group and the Quantum Light-Matter Cooperative . The position sits at the intersection of electron-beam dynamics and advanced X-ray radiation physics , with a particular emphasis on parametric X-ray radiation . The successful candidate will help lead a substantial research portfolio and contribute to new experimental and theoretical directions. The role also includes opportunities to mentor junior researchers and collaborate across UCLA, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and external partners. Relevant research interests include beam dynamics and accelerator physics , electron-source physics , advanced radiation generation , computational modeling , and X-ray instrumentation . The post is especially suited to candidates with strong technical depth and a desire for close scientific mentorship and intellectual ownership. Senior PhD students, recent graduates, and early-career researchers are encouraged to apply. Applicants should submit a CV and the names of three references via the “Join Us” form on the group website. This is a postdoctoral opening at UCLA in the United States. We present a single-stage optical parametric amplifier (OPA) with an average conversion efficiency up to 38%, tunable between 1.01 and 1.18 µm. The OPA seed is produced by a gain-managed nonlinear fiber amplifier. Numerical modeling of the seed pulse generation shows a linear chirp, a smoothly broadened redshifted spectrum, and a high spectral energy density. When up-converted to the visible through second-harmonic generation, the signal pulses are suitable for visible photocathode excitation.
