Technion - Israel Institute of Technology

Postdoctoral Position in Sustainable Architecture, Material Systems, and Computational Design at Technion

The Disrupt.Design Lab (D.DLab) at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in the Faculty of Architecture & Town Planning. The lab is a design-led technological research group focused on positioning architecture at the forefront of climate innovation, with a strong emphasis on sustainable material systems, computational design, and advanced fabrication techniques. Research in D.DLab explores the intersection of architecture, material science, and technology, addressing urgent global challenges such as climate change, resource consumption, and waste. Key research areas include bio-based and biologically enhanced materials, machine learning and data-driven design-to-manufacturing workflows, robotic fabrication, large-scale 3D printing, circular material systems, waste-based composites, and photosynthetic building materials for architecture. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, internationally oriented research environment, contributing to the lab’s strategic development and visibility through publications, exhibitions, and international dissemination. The role involves both collaborative and independent research, with opportunities to publish, teach, supervise students, and develop new research agendas. The lab provides access to advanced fabrication facilities and experimental infrastructure, and supports applications for competitive fellowships and external funding. Applicants should hold a PhD in architecture, design, engineering, material science, or a related field, and demonstrate a strong publication record, independent research capacity, and experience with experimental or computational methods. Excellent English skills, motivation for interdisciplinary work, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential. Experience in one or more of the lab’s research focus areas is expected. To apply, candidates should submit a CV, a 1–2 page statement of interest, selected publications or portfolio, a skills overview, and contact details for 2–3 referees to [email protected]. The initial application deadline is March 5, 2026, but applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For more information, visit the D.DLab website. The Technion is one of the world’s leading universities, offering significant support to international research scholars, including scholarships, research travel awards, and professional development opportunities. The campus is located in Haifa, Israel, providing a unique environment for research and collaboration in sustainable architecture and design innovation.

Technion - Israel Institute of Technology

Fully Funded MSc Position in Bio-Digital Fabrication, Mycelium Bio-Composites, and Robotic 3D Printing

Open MSc position in Bio-Digital Fabrication at Technion The Disrupt.Design Lab (D.DLab) at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology is recruiting for a fully funded Master’s research position in the MycoPRINT project. The project sits at the intersection of architecture , materials science , robotics , environmental design , and additive manufacturing , with a strong focus on mycelium bio-composites (MBCs), recycled organic residues, and circular construction. Research topics include developing novel biomaterial mixtures, designing and testing robotic Liquid Deposition Modeling (LDM) workflows, prototyping architectural-scale building elements, and validating performance within a safe-and-sustainable-by-design framework. The project is part of a collaborative initiative involving the Technion and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and it is supported by the Israel Innovation Authority. This is a fully funded MSc opportunity with a monthly stipend based on qualifications and experience. The position is based at the Technion campus in Haifa, Israel, and requires physical attendance during the research period. The lab environment includes graduate researchers, PhD students, and advanced facilities for computer-aided design and manufacturing. Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Sc., B.Arch., or B.Des. degree in Architecture, Industrial Design, Computational Design, Robotics, Material Science, or a related field, earned no more than three years before the MSc start. Strong Rhino/Blender skills, fabrication experience, academic communication skills, and fluent English are required. Experience with Grasshopper and a strong interest in eco-innovative fabrication are desirable. Deadline: 06 July 2026. How to apply: send a single PDF with CV, motivation letter, certificates, and two references to [email protected].
