About
Shukti Chakravarti is a Professor at NYU Langone Health in the United States. Her research focuses on the role of glycosaminoglycans and proteoglycans in immune response and tissue development, particularly in relation to corneal and cardiac health. Recent publications include studies on the paracrine effects of lumican and biglycan in allergic contact dermatitis, as well as insights into biomarker identification in keratoconus through RNA sequencing.

Shukti Chakravarti
NYU Langone Health
The Shukti Chakravarti Lab at NYU Langone Health is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow to advance research on keratoconus, a degenerative corneal disease characterized by the loss of corneal cells and extracellular matrix (ECM). The lab utilizes cutting-edge stem cell–derived corneal organoid models to investigate disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic interventions. The successful candidate will employ gene-editing techniques to introduce keratoconus-associated genetic variants into corneal organoids and perform functional analyses. Additionally, the role involves conducting small-molecule screens to identify compounds that can rescue corneal cellular and ECM phenotypes by modulating relevant biological pathways. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of tissue engineering, immunology, and extracellular matrix biology, with the overarching goal of addressing clinical challenges in corneal disease. The research environment is highly collaborative and dynamic, providing exposure to advanced techniques in cell and molecular biology, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, and OMICS approaches such as transcriptomics and proteomics. Applicants should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field, or be nearing completion of such a degree. Essential qualifications include a strong background in cell and molecular biology, experience with mammalian cell culture and advanced laboratory techniques, and hands-on expertise in flow cytometry and OMICS. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, along with strong communication and organizational skills, is required. To apply, candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a brief research statement (1–2 pages) outlining relevant experience and research interests, and contact information for two academic references. Applications and inquiries should be directed to Professor Shukti Chakravarti at [email protected]. For more information about the lab and research focus, visit the LinkedIn profile provided. Keywords: corneal organoids, keratoconus, tissue engineering, immunology, extracellular matrix, gene editing, cell biology, molecular biology, OMICS, flow cytometry.
