PhD Position in Physiology & Pathophysiology on Neonatal Pulmonary Biology

PhD opportunity in Physiology & Pathophysiology at the University of Manitoba , joining the Neonatal Pulmonary Biology Lab at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. The lab studies circulatory transition and the effects of hypoxia on regulation of newborn pulmonary arterial relaxation and cardiac contraction . The project will be tailored to the selected student’s strengths, with an interdisciplinary approach spanning organism-to-molecule research, clinical relevance, research precision, teamwork, and science communication. Degree level: PhD opening. Start date: ideally Jan 2027 for Canadian/US applicants or May 2027 for international applicants. Eligibility highlights: MSc in biomedical sciences or a related field; converted GPA above 3.5/4.5; prior wet lab experience; cardiovascular physiology background and/or biochemistry/molecular biology experience are assets; strong time management, motivation, and ability to work independently. Funding: the student will be supported to apply for scholarships, but the post does not specify a guaranteed stipend or full funding package.
