This postdoctoral scholarship at Lund University’s Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, Division of Perinatal and Cardiovascular Epidemiology, offers a unique opportunity to join the Perinatal and Cardiovascular Epidemiology (PACE) research group. The group, led by Associate Professor Simon Timpka, focuses on understanding the links between pregnancy complications—particularly preeclampsia—and the development of coronary artery disease in women. The research is cross-disciplinary, leveraging large registry-based, biomarker, genetic, and imaging datasets to investigate how pregnancy complications may predispose women to hypertension and coronary artery disease at an earlier age. The etiology of this process remains unclear, and the successful candidate will contribute to clarifying these mechanisms. The scholarship recipient will receive hands-on training in handling and analyzing large genetic and coronary imaging datasets, applying advanced statistical techniques to registry-ascertained health outcomes, and executing analyses relevant to genome-wide association studies (GWAS). The position also offers opportunities for bioinformatics training and collaboration with international experts. The PACE group consists of more than ten members, including a senior PhD statistician and several clinical and full-time postdocs, and is located at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) in Malmö, adjacent to Skåne University Hospital’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The scholarship is for 24 months, with a stipend of 394,800 SEK per year (non-taxable in Sweden), paid quarterly. The scholarship is intended for the recipient’s own education and career development, not as remuneration for work, and is governed by Lund University’s regulations. Recipients must formulate a study plan and meet attendance requirements; scholarships are reassessed every six months. The position does not provide sick pay, parental leave, holiday pay, pensions, or travel subsistence, but insurance coverage is included. Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field (public health, epidemiology, clinical medicine) awarded within the last three years, have not been employed at Lund University in the past two years, and have documented experience with large datasets in cardiovascular or genetic epidemiology or cardiac imaging. Expertise in statistical software (SAS, Stata, R) and proficiency in English are required. Interest in women’s health and prior international research collaboration are advantageous. Applications should be submitted as a single PDF by email to the supervisor, including a personal letter, CV, publication list, PhD diploma or defense statement, and contact information for two references. The application deadline is November 20, 2025, with a flexible start date from January 1, 2026.
