PhD opportunity in Social Prescribing at Aalborg University Aalborg University is advertising one or more PhD stipends in Social Prescribing at the Department of Health Science and Technology , Faculty of Medicine. The position is linked to the EU-funded Social Prescribing EU (SP-EU) project and the Active Health research group. The PhD student will contribute to the first randomized controlled trial testing social prescribing in the Danish context, including a site-specific process evaluation of the trial rollout. The work involves collecting and analysing data, regular communication with participants, general practitioners, and link workers, and collaboration with the Danish research hub and the wider European consortium. Research areas and keywords: social prescribing, public health, primary health care, medicine, randomized controlled trial, process evaluation, health services research, and data analysis. Supervision: main supervisor is Professor Sine Agergaard ; co-supervisors are Professor Janus Laust Thomsen and Professor Søren Paaske Johnsen . Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a master’s degree in public health, medicine, or a related programme. Strong analytical and dissemination skills are required. Experience with randomized controlled trials and process evaluation is an advantage. The post also requires structured working methods, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, and advanced Danish and English language ability (oral and written). Funding and duration: the stipend is for 3 years , starting 1 August 2026 or soon thereafter. Salary and employment terms follow the Danish collective agreement. AAU PhD course announcement: the Eighth Annual Symposium on Health and Exercise Sciences at Aalborg University is open for registration for PhD students. The course is worth 1 ECTS and will be delivered in a hybrid format with both in-person attendance at the Faculty of Medicine and online streaming. The course is centered on health sciences , exercise sciences , physical activity , rehabilitation , health promotion , and human performance . It highlights research that seeks to understand and promote physical activity across the lifespan and in diverse populations, with perspectives from the natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Topics include recruitment and involvement of research participants, mixed methods for gathering and analyzing health outcomes of exercise, improving exercise efficiency and mental performance, novel technologies in sports, and injury prevention in sports and at work. The course is organized by Associate Professor Rogerio Pessoto Hirata with co-organisers Professor Pascal Madeleine and Professor Sine Agergaard . It is intended for PhD students with basic knowledge of health and exercise sciences and experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
