Solange Duhamel

Solange Duhamel’s lab at the University of Arizona is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in marine microbial ecology for the NSF Biological Oceanography–funded P-MixSwitch collaboration with Susquehanna University. The project studies prasinophyte mixoplankton —single-celled marine algae that can both photosynthesize and consume bacterial prey—to understand whether they switch from photosynthesis to feeding when phosphorus becomes scarce, and how that behavior affects carbon cycling in the ocean. The postdoc will lead laboratory culture experiments with prasinophyte mixoplankton and bacterial prey, including designing and running exponentially fed batch culture systems . The role is collaborative and multidisciplinary, with transcriptomics led by the Charvet Lab at Susquehanna University. This is a full-time, 24-month appointment , renewed annually depending on performance and funding. The position includes funded travel to conferences and structured career development through the project’s postdoctoral mentoring plan.
