Ph.D. position in Architecture and Civil Engineering
Songhua Hu, joining City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2025, is recruiting fully funded PhD students for Spring/Fall 2026 in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering. The research focuses on urban mobility sensing and computing, leveraging big data, deep learning, and computational methods to advance smart, sustainable, resilient, and equitable mobility systems. Applicants with backgrounds in data science, computer science, operations research, transportation, or geography are encouraged to apply; experience with large language models (LLMs) is a plus. Research topics include multi-structured mobility data fusion, large-scale human movement simulation, agent-based modeling, geospatial AI, and the interaction between human mobility, urban environment, transport networks, public health, and social equity. PhD students will receive a stipend of approximately HKD 19,000/month, with outstanding candidates eligible for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (~HKD 28,000/month).
