The Supply Chain Management Group at ETH Zurich’s Department of Management, Technology, and Economics is inviting applications for a PhD student / doctoral researcher position focused on
sustainable supply chain management
. The project examines how companies manage social sustainability issues in supply chains, including modern slavery and unsafe working conditions, in the context of emerging supply chain due diligence regulations.
The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, international research environment and contribute to a project led by
Dr. Christian Wagner
and
Prof. Dr. Stephan Wagner
. Research will use
quantitative and qualitative methods
, including engagement with industry partners and analysis of secondary data. The dissertation is expected to comprise three high-quality papers aimed at top-tier journals. Responsibilities also include supervising master’s theses, assisting with teaching, and participating in community outreach.
Eligibility highlights:
an excellent master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; excellent written and oral English, ideally German; strong motivation for academic research; and a solid background in empirical methods and data analysis using statistical or econometric techniques. Candidates with primarily analytical backgrounds and/or interests will not be considered. Strong teamwork, social skills, independence, proactivity, and project management ability are also expected.
