Assistant Professor (Tenure System)
in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations in East Lansing, Michigan. This is an early-stage tenure-track faculty opening for scholars in
communication, mass communication, mass media, information and media, advertising, public relations, strategic communication
, or a closely related field.
The department is especially interested in candidates with strong
qualitative and/or quantitative methods
, a clearly defined and active
empirical research program
, and evidence of or potential for
external funding
. The post highlights research that complements or expands the department’s expertise, including
artificial intelligence (AI) and advertising
, emerging communication technologies, digital media, influencer and creator culture, consumer insights, analytics and privacy, health communication, political communication, race and identity communication, science communication, persuasion, CSR, and media effects.
Applicants should be able to teach core and elective courses in advertising and related areas and should show a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Desired strengths include a national or international academic reputation, industry-related experience, entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary collaboration, and outreach/engagement.
Eligibility includes a completed Ph.D. or ABD status with a clear pathway to finish the doctorate by the start date. The search is for a full-time faculty appointment in a remote-friendly role. The application window closes on
