Dr Tony Murmu at the University of the West of Scotland is sharing PhD opportunities linked to the Aerospace-H2 Hydrogen Group and research on hydrogen aviation , liquid-hydrogen storage , composite structures , cryogenic materials , structural integrity , finite-element modelling , and AI-enabled aerospace design . The post highlights a new publication on the thermal-structural design and assessment of a composite liquid-hydrogen tank for regional aircraft applications , with the ATR 72-212A used as a representative aircraft platform. The research focus is strongly aligned with sustainable aviation, lightweight composite optimisation, cryogenic tank design, and safer hydrogen storage systems for future aircraft. These PhD opportunities are currently described as self-funded . The poster notes that external and collaborative funding routes are being explored, so suitable applicants may later be considered for funded opportunities if these become available.
