Ville Suomala

The University of Oulu’s Mathematical Sciences Research Unit is offering a postdoctoral position within the Faculty of Science, embedded in the Mathematical Analysis Research Group. The group works across active themes in modern analysis, including fractal geometry, dynamical systems, geometric measure theory, geometric analysis, and harmonic analysis, and is described as having a strong international reputation. The successful researcher will join the project Fractals and randomness led by Professor Ville Suomala, with opportunities to collaborate in Maximal functions and families of basic geometric objects led by Academy Research Fellow Julian Weigt. The role combines independent research with participation in a collaborative research group and an extensive international research network. The appointment is for three years and includes a small teaching contribution. The research environment emphasizes international collaboration through conferences, workshops, research visits, and joint projects, alongside professional development in a large university setting. The advert also highlights the unit’s research culture in mathematical analysis and its links to broader networks in the field.
