MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow in Professions, Expertise, Education, and Policy (OsloMet Centre for the Study of Professions)
The Centre for the Study of Professions at Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) invites expressions of interest for joint applications to the EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF-2026). This opportunity is aimed at researchers interested in innovative, cross-disciplinary research on professions, expertise, education, and policy. The Centre is a leading Nordic multidisciplinary hub, bringing together scholars from sociology, anthropology, philosophy, history, and political science to explore the evolving roles of professions in society, the impact of digitalization and AI, professional education, ethics, and policy implementation.
Successful applicants will join a vibrant academic community comprising permanent staff, postdocs, doctoral fellows, and visiting professors. The Centre’s research groups focus on professional knowledge and qualification, expertise and public policy, professional practice and interaction, and professional careers and labour markets. Ongoing projects address topics such as meaningful work, research use in education, the authority of expertise, service integration, and student completion in professional education. The Centre values both empirical and theoretical research, with a strong emphasis on policy relevance and societal impact.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., sociology, education, history, philosophy, political science, social anthropology, economics, psychology, or a professional field such as social work, nursing, medicine, law), have a strong research and publication record, and be highly proficient in English. Eligibility criteria include a PhD successfully defended by 9 September 2026, no more than 8 years of research experience post-PhD (with exceptions for certain EU nationals/long-term residents), and not having resided in Norway for more than 12 months in the past three years. Both quantitative and qualitative research approaches are welcome, and comparative or cross-disciplinary projects are encouraged.
MSCA-PF fellowships are fully funded, offering a gross annual salary of approximately EUR 75,000, plus living and mobility allowances and an additional family allowance for eligible researchers. The fellowship duration is two years, with flexible start dates between April and December 2027. Successful candidates will benefit from integration into the Centre’s research groups, access to academic networks, flexible working conditions, onboarding support, and free Norwegian language classes.
