The Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering at Poznan University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the SHENG NCN project, titled "Interaction mechanism of meta-geogrid-soil interface for resilient reinforcement of high slopes under freeze-thaw condition." This project, funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), Poland, aims to advance understanding and technology in the reinforcement of high slopes, focusing on the interface mechanics between meta-geogrids and soil, particularly under challenging freeze-thaw cycles. The successful candidate will join an active scientific team and contribute to experimental research in process engineering, with a strong emphasis on the mechanics of heterogeneous materials. The position offers a stable, full-time contract for three years, starting March 2, 2026, with a competitive gross annual salary of 140,000 PLN (approximately 8,600 PLN per month). The role includes opportunities for a three-month internship at a selected Eunice University member, training in advanced fabrication methods for new materials, participation in international courses and conferences, and support for additional funding applications during the appointment. Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in engineering, specializing in experimental mechanics of heterogeneous materials, and demonstrate current scientific achievements through publications in prestigious journals. The doctoral degree should have been obtained no earlier than 12 years before January 1, 2026, with possible extensions for documented career breaks, including long-term sick leave, rehabilitation, or childcare leave. Women may extend the eligibility period by 18 months for each child born or adopted. Required application materials include a CV, motivation letter, and optionally, copies of papers and conference presentations. The research environment is described as friendly, dynamic, and supportive, with access to advanced facilities and international collaboration. The project is not funded by the EU Research Framework Programme but is fully supported by the National Science Centre, Poland. The application deadline is January 27, 2026, and the competition results will be announced by January 30, 2026.
