The Phase Transition Lab at the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, South China University of Technology (SCUT), is recruiting postdoctoral researchers for interdisciplinary work on the fundamental physics of phase transition and its applications in cryobiology and thermal management . Hosted by Associate Professor Y. Zhao , the group welcomes candidates with a PhD or equivalent and backgrounds in thermodynamics, numerical heat transfer, computational fluid dynamics, molecular dynamics, thermal physics, refrigeration and cryogenics, mechanical and energy engineering, food engineering, biomedical engineering, or closely related areas. Research directions include: phase transition physics (mechanisms of phase transition, continuous phase transitions, multiphase heat/mass transfer in solidification, hydrodynamics, water relaxation); cryobiology/cryopreservation (freezing and supercooling, cryopreservation technologies, heat and mass transfer in biological systems, food freezing, biopreservation of cells or organs); and thermal management (hydrogen storage, cold energy storage, phase change materials, battery heat protection, high-performance cooling, chip/data center cooling, and thermal management for electronic devices). The position is full-time and temporary, with a contract duration of 24 to 36 months. The university is located in Guangzhou, China. Funding is competitive and follows SCUT postdoctoral policies, with an annual comprehensive salary of about 300,000 to 400,000 RMB depending on education and experience. Additional fellowship opportunities may be available through postdoctoral talent support programs with funding levels ranging from 470,000 RMB/year to 570,000 RMB/year.
