Postdoc in AI-augmented Process Control at Aalborg University

Postdoc opportunity at Aalborg University in AI-augmented process control , with a focus on advanced process monitoring and control , reinforcement learning , and AI methods for offshore industrial applications. The position is hosted by AAU Energy in the Department of Energy and is linked to the research group Fluid & Process at the Esbjerg campus. The project targets produced water treatment and oil-in-water sensing and control technologies , with methods to be developed, tested, and demonstrated on a pilot plant at Aalborg University and, later, potentially at industrial partner sites. This is a 2-year full-time postdoc supported by the EUDP-funded ARROiW project (Advanced Recording for Reduction of Oil-in-Water), in collaboration with Technical University of Denmark , University of Copenhagen , and industrial partners. The postdoc will work in a highly applied, industry-facing environment with real-world validation opportunities. Eligibility highlights: a PhD in control, automation, or a relevant field is required. Experience in AI-enhanced or integrated process control is strongly preferred. Experimental validation experience is useful, but prior knowledge of offshore industrial processes is not mandatory. Application window: deadline 2026-04-27. The appointment starts from 01 July 2026 or soon thereafter. How to apply: submit the application through Aalborg University’s recruitment system on the job advertisement page. Include a motivation letter, CV, diplomas, publication list, and any relevant supporting documents. Up to five publications may be attached for assessment.
