University of Trento PhD Scholarship 2026

The University of Trento PhD Scholarships are doctoral funding opportunities offered by the University of Trento in Italy for admission to specific PhD programmes. These scholarships are advertised through individual calls, so the exact number of awards, research areas, and funding package depend on the programme and year.

Some calls provide a full annual stipend for up to 3 years, while others may also include a research budget and tuition support.

Eligibility typically requires applicants to hold a Master's degree or equivalent, or to be close to completing one by the deadline stated in the call. Applicants are usually expected to submit a strong academic application and, where relevant, a clear and feasible research proposal aligned with the chosen doctoral programme. English proficiency may be required for programmes taught in English.

These scholarships are intended for students pursuing PhD-level study in Italy. Research is carried out at the University of Trento and, in some cases, with partner institutions or joint supervision arrangements. For example, the Agrifood and Environmental Sciences opportunity referenced collaboration with Fondazione Edmund Mach, while the Management programme is jointly offered with the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

Students interested in this funding should check the specific PhD call published by the University of Trento, review programme-specific eligibility and document requirements carefully, and apply through the university's online admissions procedure for the relevant doctoral programme.
