About this position

Cogito Foundation Postdoc Scholarships support project-oriented postdoctoral research for scientists who have recently completed a PhD and want to carry out their studies at a foreign institution.

The scheme is centred on cross-disciplinary collaboration between the Sciences and the Humanities. The foundation emphasizes that both sides of the collaboration should gain scientifically from the project, and that the work should go beyond simply applying a method from one field to another.

The award is run by the Cogito Foundation in Switzerland and is intended for research projects evaluated on the quality of the applicant, the research plan, and the host institution.

The advert states that PhD studies are not supported.

Funding details

Project-oriented stipend of 50’000 CHF for up to 3 years.

What's required

Applicants must be scientists recently graduated as PhD and the proposed work must be a postdoc study at a foreign institution. Proposals must be cross-disciplinary collaborations between the Sciences and the Humanities in which both sides gain scientifically from the project; purely one-directional application of a method from one field to another is not sufficient. The selection criteria are the qualifications of the researcher, the quality of the research plan, and the quality of the host institution. PhD studies are not supported.

How to apply

Apply through the Cogito Foundation fellowship page. Submit a project-oriented proposal that meets the foundation’s cross-disciplinary criteria and includes the research plan and host institution details.
