About this position
The Dresden Leibniz Graduate School (DLGS) is an interdisciplinary doctoral programme jointly run by the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) and Dresden University of Technology (TUD). It is designed for doctoral fellows whose independently conceived research proposals align with IOER’s research and who are admitted to a relevant TUD faculty.
The programme is centered on sustainability science and transformative leadership, bringing together ecological urban and regional development with doctoral training in a structured research environment. Fellows work toward a doctoral dissertation that may take the form of either a monograph or a cumulative thesis. Academic development is supported through Supervisory Board meetings, where participants present progress and receive feedback.
DLGS also offers a broader research and professional environment for doctoral candidates in Dresden. The programme includes support for fieldwork and for networking at national and international conferences, as well as career services and support for international doctoral researchers through TU Dresden’s Welcome Centre and related services.
The setting combines IOER’s research environment with the resources of TU Dresden, offering an English-language, full-time doctoral programme in a collaborative academic context.
