Humboldt Research Fellowship

Female postdoctoral researchers are invited to join the Structural Mechanics/Dynamics Group at the University of Stuttgart through a prestigious Humboldt Research Fellowship.

The group, led by Prof. Malte Krack, works on structural dynamics, contact mechanics, computational mechanics, experimental mechanics, and nonlinear vibration problems. Research topics include friction, impacts, stick-slip behavior, vibration simulation, damping prediction, and experimental identification of vibration modes and damping. Applications are strongly connected to aerospace engineering, especially turbomachinery, aircraft engines, blades, flutter, and other thin-walled structures.

This opportunity is for postdoctoral researchers only. Two eligibility categories are mentioned: candidates starting immediately after doctoral graduation up to 4 years later, and experienced researchers up to 12 years after doctoral graduation. The post explicitly states that applicants must be female, non-German citizens, must not have completed a doctorate in Germany or had postdoctoral stays in Germany, and must not have previously applied to the Humboldt Foundation. German language skills are not required.

The fellowship supports a research stay of up to 24 months at the University of Stuttgart. Funding includes a monthly fellowship of 3,000 EUR for standard postdocs or 3,600 EUR for experienced researchers, plus additional benefits such as travel allowance, medical insurance, and allowances for partners and children. The group also highlights a well-equipped vibration laboratory and flexible working arrangements.
