CASA Dearden PhD Scholarship

PhD opportunity at University College London (UCL), Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA). The CASA Dearden PhD Scholarship is a fully funded 3-year doctoral studentship leading to the Doctorate in Advanced Spatial Analysis.

Research areas: urban modelling, geo-visualisation, economic geography, urban and regional dynamics, transport modelling, urban planning, housing, connected sensor systems, cities and climate change, urban policy, complexity, spatial network analysis, GIS, and data visualisation.

Funding: UK/home tuition fees plus a stipend. The award covers UK level tuition fees up to the UCL UK Fee Level for 2026/27 and provides a stipend of at least £21,805 per year plus £2,000 London weighting per year.

Eligibility: Open to UK/home applicants only. Applicants should have a first or upper second class honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as geography, planning, economics, social science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or physics. A master's degree at distinction or merit level (or equivalent) is required or must be completed by summer 2026. Applicants must meet UCL's English language requirement (Level 1) and demonstrate strong academic potential through research, publications, or relevant professional experience.
