About this position

GradAB is a joint interdisciplinary doctoral programme in labour market research run by the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the School of Business, Economics and Society at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The programme is designed for outstanding early-career researchers interested in labour market topics and provides access to the IAB’s unique data resources on employment and social security. These resources support theoretically grounded and empirically driven research on a wide range of questions relevant to labour market policy and the functioning of labour markets.

Students are based at the IAB in Nuremberg, the research institute of the Federal Employment Agency, and benefit from a structured doctoral environment that combines coursework, individual support, and research training. The programme emphasises advanced theoretical and empirical methods, giving doctoral researchers the tools to work with rich data and conduct state-of-the-art labour market research.

The interdisciplinary setting brings together perspectives from economics, sociology, and related social sciences within the broader research environment of FAU and IAB.
