About this position
The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Postdoctoral Fellowships support early-career scientists who want to broaden their research skills by moving into a new area of study, institution, and country.
Two fellowship categories are available. Long-Term Fellowships are intended for applicants with a PhD in a biological discipline who propose life-sciences research substantially different from their previous doctoral or postdoctoral work. Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships are for applicants with PhDs outside the life sciences, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, or computer science, who have not previously worked in the life sciences.
Both fellowship types provide three years of salary together with research and travel allowances. Applicants need a recently conferred research doctorate or comparable doctoral-level qualification and at least one full-length original research publication as lead author. The fellowship requires a move to a host country that is neither the applicant’s country of nationality nor their current country.
The application process includes a Letter of Intent in May, followed by a full proposal in September for applicants who are invited. See the Harvard University resource page for application guidance and current deadlines.
