About this position
Leeds Access to Research Scholarship 2027 (PGR-F-474) is a doctoral funding opportunity at the University of Leeds for prospective postgraduate researchers from Black, Asian and other minoritised ethnic groups. The scholarship is available for PhD / research degree study across all Faculties in Session 2027/28.
This is a scholarship/studentship rather than a job opening. It supports applicants who are eligible for Home (UK) fee status or who have refugee/asylum seeker/humanitarian protection status. Applicants must not already hold or be currently studying for a doctoral degree. A first degree equivalent to at least a UK Upper Second Class Honours degree is required; some faculties may also ask for a master's degree. If the undergraduate mark is lower, relevant alternative experience may be considered. English language requirements must be met before or at registration, and any higher School/Faculty requirement also applies.
Funding includes full academic fees plus a maintenance grant of £21,805 (Session 2026/27) for full-time study, with part-time awards pro-rata. The award lasts 3 years for fees and 3.5 years for maintenance for full-time study, and the amount increases annually in line with the UKRI rate. Up to 5 awards are available.
Application process: first apply for a research programme of study through the relevant admissions route. After receiving your 9-digit Student Application ID, complete the online scholarship application form. The deadline is Tuesday 23 March 2027 at 17:00 UK time. The university also offers guidance, one-to-one support, and webinars for applicants.
Research areas/keywords: doctoral study, postgraduate research, diversity and inclusion, research degree, all faculties, scholarship, PhD funding.
