About this position

Aarhus University is advertising a PhD position in AI and workplace inclusion within the EU-funded MSCA Doctoral Network EMANAIRE (Empowering Human Agency in AI-Augmented Futures of Work). The position is based at the Department of Management, Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, with additional expertise from the Department of Psychology and Behavioural Sciences.

The project sits at the intersection of AI, digitalization, organizations, management, HRM, work and organizational psychology, and workplace inclusion. The network studies how generative and agentic AI is changing work, including leadership, communication, learning, careers, and inclusion. The PhD project specifically focuses on how AI in organizational practices such as recruitment, evaluation, communication, coordination, learning, and career development may support inclusion or reproduce exclusion.

Applicants are invited to develop their own original PhD project within this broad theme. Possible topics include belongingness, authenticity, participation, visibility, learning and development, career opportunities, and the effects of AI on interpersonal work relations. The project may examine diversity dimensions such as ethnicity, language, gender, age, disability, or other relevant forms of difference. Methods may include qualitative fieldwork, interviews, case studies, surveys, experiments, or other suitable approaches.

The selected candidate will join an international doctoral network with training schools, seminars, workshops, collaboration across European universities, and a secondment of at least three months with a practice partner. The position is full-time and fixed-term for 36 months, starting 1 February 2027.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold or expect to complete a relevant Master’s degree or equivalent before the start date; relevant backgrounds include management, organization studies, HRM, international business, psychology, sociology, information systems, or related fields. Candidates must also meet MSCA rules, including no doctoral degree at recruitment and compliance with the mobility rule for Denmark.

Funding: this is a funded PhD scholarship position under the MSCA Doctoral Network. Salary and employment terms follow Danish state academic agreements, with pay at base level 4–8 depending on qualifications.

Deadline: 1 December 2026 at 23:59 CET.
