The selected candidate will be integrated into BI's Department of Communication and Culture and the wider EMANAIRE network. The network offers international supervision, three residential schools, methods workshops, monthly research seminars, practitioner engagement, and a planned six-month intersectoral secondment. The project also includes academic mobility and collaborative work across institutions.
Funding: NOK 623,200 gross per year, plus pension membership; 25% of working time is reserved for teaching. This is a doctoral scholarship rather than a postdoctoral or master's opening.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold, or complete by the start date, a relevant master's degree with thesis work (MSc, research master's/M.Phil., or equivalent). Relevant backgrounds include communication, media studies, HCI, information systems, sociology, psychology, management, organizational behavior, HRM, law and technology, STS, and political science. An MBA does not qualify. For some applicants, TOEFL/IELTS documentation is required unless a waiver is granted. MSCA mobility and doctoral-degree conditions also apply.

What's required
Applicants must have completed, or complete by the start date, a Master of Science degree with thesis work, a research master's/M.Phil. degree, or a comparable degree relevant to the PhD specialisation in Communication. Relevant backgrounds include communication, media studies, human-computer interaction, information systems, sociology, psychology, management, organisational behaviour, human resource management, law and technology, science and technology studies, political science, or related social-science and interdisciplinary fields. An MBA does not meet the admission requirements. A qualifying degree must include thesis work and normally a GPA of B or higher. For applicants without a qualifying master's degree from a Nordic institution and whose degree was not taught in English, TOEFL or IELTS is normally required unless a waiver is granted. MSCA eligibility also requires no doctoral degree, compliance with the mobility rule, and enrolment in or eligibility for the doctoral programme.
