PhD scholarship opportunity at the University of Warwick in the School of Engineering through the Net2Zero CDT (EPSRC and BBSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Negative Emission Technologies for Net Zero).

The advertised project is “Biomass-derived Functional Nanomaterials for Phase-change Thermal Management”, with research themes spanning biomass-derived materials, functional nanomaterials, phase-change thermal management, negative emission technologies, biochar, direct air capture, CO2 storage, CO2 utilisation, and BECCS. The post is linked to the Laboratory for Energy Intensified Reactor Engineering at Warwick.

This is a fully funded PhD studentship with a tax-free stipend, paid tuition fees, and a research training support grant. The CDT also offers interdisciplinary training, industrial engagement, and a possible three-month placement. International students are welcome, though places are limited and offers may be conditional on fee waivers at the host university.

Eligibility: applicants should have, or expect to achieve, a Master’s degree in a relevant subject with a 60%+ weighted average and/or a First or Upper Second Class Honours degree (or equivalent). Prior in-depth knowledge of negative emission technologies is not required at application stage.
