Macquarie University PhD Scholarship

Macquarie University is offering a PhD scholarship in Creating climate-resilient healthcare, delivered with the Northern Sydney Local Health District and the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI). This opportunity is aimed at candidates interested in public health, medical science, environmental science, and related research on health systems transformation.

The project focuses on building climate-resilient and low-carbon healthcare systems, reducing healthcare’s environmental and carbon footprint, and supporting Net Zero targets. Research themes include implementation science, planetary health, protecting vulnerable populations from climate change impacts, and developing evidence-based strategies that can be translated into practice and policy.

The scholarship is a direct entry three-year PhD opportunity for domestic candidates. Funding includes full tuition coverage and a $42,000 p.a. stipend for full-time study over three years, with the possibility of a paid part-time research support role. Students will benefit from mentorship, world-class facilities, and collaboration with clinicians, researchers, and policymakers across Australian and international health organisations.
