ANU-CSIRO Digital Agriculture PhD Scholarship

ANU-CSIRO is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship in digital agriculture, AI, and machine learning at the Australian National University in Australia.

The project focuses on machine learning approaches for developing farm emulators using APSIM, remote sensing, spatial data, and deep learning to build real-time decision support tools for farmers. The research aims to create an AI-powered crop prediction emulator that can help prioritize field management decisions across paddock, farm, regional, and broader scales.

Students will work with a multidisciplinary team with expertise in farming systems modelling, remote sensing, data science, and machine learning, with access to CSIRO’s digital agriculture expertise. Training includes crop simulation modelling, deep learning applications, crop sensing techniques, data management, analysis, paper writing, presentations, and peer review.

Eligible applicants should have a background in data science, machine learning, statistics, computer science, agricultural engineering, or a related field, and should be able to program. Python or R skills are preferred.
