About this position

Karolinska Institutet is advertising a two-year postdoctoral scholarship in the research group of Dr. Ping Chen at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Division of Clinical Chemistry, at KI Campus Flemingsberg in Sweden.

The project sits at the intersection of bioinformatics, RNA biology, RNA splicing, computational method development, and metabolic disease. The Chen lab develops data-driven approaches to understand RNA diversity and its regulatory mechanisms in human metabolic disease, with a particular focus on obesity and related disorders. The postdoctoral researcher will develop and benchmark new bioinformatics tools and analysis pipelines, analyze large-scale bulk and single-cell sequencing data, collaborate with experimental and clinical partners, maintain reproducible code and documentation, and contribute to supervision, presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, or a closely related field, with strong knowledge of RNA biology and biomedical sciences. Experience with sequencing data preprocessing, RNA splicing, deep learning, and human multi-omics analysis is advantageous. Strong English communication, independence, teamwork, motivation, and publication/manuscript-writing ability are valued.

Funding: this is a scholarship-based postdoctoral position. The scholarship can be granted for up to two years, is tax free, and is paid out on a six-month basis.

Application deadline: 20 August 2026. Applicants should prepare the required English-language documents and submit them through the Varbi recruitment system.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
