About this position

Karolinska Institutet is advertising a postdoctoral scholarship in Computational Pediatric Cancers Biology at the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric Surgery, Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, in Solna, Sweden.

The project sits at the intersection of computational biology, single-cell analysis, cancer genomics, multi-omics, and cancer evolution. The research focuses on neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers, with an emphasis on tumor heterogeneity, clonal dynamics, metastasis, relapse, and treatment resistance. The postdoctoral researcher will analyze high-dimensional molecular data, develop computational methods, and work with single-cell and bulk sequencing datasets from public resources and consortia.

Responsibilities include programming in Python and R, data processing, statistical analysis, visualization, multi-omics integration, and building reproducible bioinformatics workflows. Experience with machine learning, algorithm development, data structures, high-performance computing, and software development best practices is considered an advantage. The role involves close collaboration with experimental and clinical researchers and contributing to publications and new project development.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent degree, or complete all requirements before the intended start date. The scholarship is intended for foreign researchers coming to Sweden for postdoctoral education; candidates resident in Sweden or who have completed all or part of their academic education at KI or another Swedish institution are not eligible.

Funding: the scholarship is tax-free, awarded for twelve months at a time, and paid out on a six-month basis; shorter periods may be possible in exceptional cases.

Application: submit a complete CV, publication list, and a one-page summary of current work in English or Swedish via the Varbi recruitment system. Deadline: 2026-08-28.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
